1. Students welcome at the Graduate School of Education

The Graduate School of Education aims to impart in-depth knowledge from a broad perspective that builds on a foundation of general and specialized education acquired as an undergraduate, and train human resources capable of creatively promoting education theory and practice. Accordingly, we seek to admit individuals capable of researching, developing and recommending new educational content, assuming a leadership role in schools, and collaborating with communities to supervise education in schools and communities as a whole.

2. Basic policy on student selection

To select students compatible with the educational principles and objectives of this graduate school, we administer regular entrance examination procedures and special selection procedures for professional teachers. With the regular entrance examination procedures, applicants’ abilities and qualities are evaluated holistically on the basis of a scholastic achievement test (comprising written, practical and oral examinations), transcript of grades, their reasons for applying and their research proposals. With the special selection procedures for professional teachers, applicants are selected on the basis of a number of factors including an oral examination, their reasons for applying, their research proposals and their research achievements.

(1) Science for School Education (Division of Education and Human Development, Division of Educational Management, Curriculum Development and Clinical Practice)

① Students welcome in the Science for School Education

The Department of Science for School Education seeks to admit individuals with the qualities needed to grasp various issues concerning school education, including basic issues concerning education and development and issues pertaining to absenteeism and scholastic ability accurately from a scientific perspective based on an interdisciplinary approach, and promote research to resolve them.

② Basic policy on student selection

To select students compatible with their education principles and objectives, the Science for School Education administers special selection procedures for professional teachers as a special entrance examination in addition to its regular entrance examination procedures. With the regular entrance examination procedures, applicants’ abilities and qualities are evaluated holistically on the basis of a number of factors including a scholastic achievement test (comprising written, practical and oral examinations), their reasons for applying and their research proposals.

(2) Science for Study of School Subjects (Division of Language, Human and Social Science Education, Division of Mathematics Science and Technology Education and Division of Fine Arts, Music, Health and Physical Education)

The Science for Study of School Subjects seeks to admit individuals with the qualities needed to grasp various issues concerning the areas of academia and culture, and education thereof accurately from a scientific perspective based on an interdisciplinary approach while keeping neighboring and bordering areas in mind, and promote research to resolve them.

② Basic policy on student selection

To select students compatible with their education principles and objectives, the Science for Study of School Subjects administers special selection procedures for professional teachers as a special entrance examination in addition to its regular entrance examination procedures. With the regular entrance examination procedures, applicants’ abilities and qualities are evaluated holistically on the basis of a number of factors including a scholastic achievement test (comprising written, practical and oral examinations), their reasons for applying and their research proposals
