Group for Science Education

This department is organized primarily for teacher training for science education in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. The science field consists of physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, and science education. This department’s curriculum has been designed to satisfy the requirements of upgrading the quality of teachers and researchers within this field. This department is characterized by its many training programs in science and science education at both the university and the attached elementary and junior high schools. The graduates of this department are expected to become teachers in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools.

KATO Tetsuya (D.Sci.) is a Professor with research interests in Physics education, Experiments of magnetic and dielectric crystals. Professor KATO teaches on the doctor's course in the Graduate School of Science.

YAMASHITA Shuichi (Ph.D.) is a Professor with research interests in understanding how students learn science, and science lesson study. Professor YAMASHITA teaches on the doctor's course in the United Graduate School of Education.

HAYASHI Hideko is an Associate Professor with research interests in phase transition of substances and Chemical Education. Associate Professor HAYASHI teaches on the doctor's course in the United Graduate School of Education.

MINO Hirofumi is an Associate Professor with research interests in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Optics and Laser Spectroscopy. Associate Professor MINO teaches on the doctor's course in the Graduate School of Science.

YAMATO Masahide is a Professor with research interests in Ecology and Physiology of plants and fungi.

SASAKAWA Koji (Ph.D. in Agriculture) is an Associate Professor with research interests in Entomology.

IZUMI Kentaro is an Associate Professor with research interests in Geoscience.
