The physical education teacher profession requires not only physical skills but also academic knowledge. For this reason, the department covers a wide range of subjects, from the practical side to the natural and social scientific sides of this field. The former mainly includes coaching methods for various sports skills, training theory, teaching theory, and teaching methodology for school physical education. The latter covers the natural and social sciences and humanities with respect to sports, health, and physical education. Most of the students in the department aim to become physical education teachers from the elementary to senior high school level. Many department students participate in various university sports clubs.

KOMIYAMA Tomoyoshi is a Professor with research interests in Modulation of spinal reflexes during movement. Professor KOMIYAMA teaches on the doctor's course in the United Graduate School of Education.

SUGIYAMA Hideto is a Professor with research interests in Theory of Physical Education and contemporary Sport.

SHIMONAGATA Shuji is a Professor with research interests in Sports Biomechanics.

NISHINO Akira is an Associate Professor with research interests in Sports Psychology and Analysis of Volleyball Games.

NANASAWA Akane is an Associate Professor with research interests in Physical Education and Dance Education.
