Group for Education in Japanese Language

The teaching staff specialize in four categories: Japanese linguistics, Japanese literature, Chinese literature, and education in the Japanese language. Lectures on Japanese linguistics cover the structure, function, and history of the Japanese language. Lectures on Japanese literature focus on the classics, modern literature, and children's literature. Lectures on Chinese literature cover the classics. Lectures on education in the Japanese language cover both theoretical and practical teaching. The group also offers more than 10 types of seminars each year. The staff members are active in related affiliated societies, and many have published treatises.

Staff and Research Fields

TERAI Masanori is a Professor with research interests in reading education in expository texts, communication education based on storytelling,and research on teaching of the national language. Professor TERAI teaches on the doctor's course in the United Graduate School of Education.

SUZUKI Hiroko (Ph.D.) is a Professor with research interests in Japanese classical literature, Japanese classical poetry and study of the TALE OF GENJI. Professor SUZUKI teaches on the doctor's course in the United Graduate School of Education.

ABE Tomoyo (Master of Linguistics) is a Professor with research interests in Japanese Linguistics (Japanese Grammar) .

MORITA Shingo is a Professor with research interests in History of Japanese language teaching and Japanese Grammar teaching.

SATO Motoki (Ph.D,in Letters) is an Associate Professor with research interests in Japanese modern literature, Japanese modern poetry.
